Hot-dip galvanizing,from wikipedia
As hot-dip galvanised sheet steel is used for almost all our products,to know what's galvanization, what's hot-dip galvanizing? They can be known from Wikipedia:
1.what's galvanization?
Galvanization (or galvanisation) classically refers to any of several electrochemical processes named after the Italian scientist Luiqi Galvani. Now the term generally refers to an electrodepostion process used to add a thin layer of another metal to an item made of steel, in order to prevent rusting. More recently, though, the term has been broadened in common usage to include applying a protective metallic coating to an underlying piece of metal, using a process called hot-dip galvanization, which produces similar results, but which does not employ electrochemical deposition.
2.what's Hot-dip galvanizing?
Hot-dip galvanizing is a form of galvanization. It is the process of coating iron, steel, or aluminum with a thin zinc layer, by passing the metal through a molten bath of zinc at a temperature of around 860 °F (460 °C). When exposed to the atmosphere, the pure zinc (Zn) reacts with oxygen to form zinc oxide, which further reacts with carbon dioxide to form zinc carbonate , a usually dull grey, fairly strong material that stops further corrosion in many circumstances, protecting the steel below from the elements. Galvanized steel is widely used in applications where rust resistance is needed, and can be identified by the crystallization patterning on the surface (often called a “spangle”).
